Madonna Denied Blast-Off in '08

It looks as if the Material Girl isn't going to be leaving this material world anytime soon.

Russia's Duma legislative body nixed the idea of sending Madonna into space in 2008, a notion brought forth by Liberal Democratic Party lawmaker Alexei Mitrofanov after the 48-year-old hit maker supposedly said during her tour stop in Moscow this week that she would like to visit the International Space Station.

"It would be a serious event, considering the TV coverage and the fact that it will coincide with [presidential] elections in the United States and Russia," Mitrofanov, who proposed that an official inquiry be sent to the Russian Federal Space Agency, told the information service RIA Novosti.

Space agency spokesman Igor Panarin explained that there were no seats available on the Soyuz spacecraft until 2009.

"Taking into account her good physical preparedness and financial capabilities, the dream of [Madonna] Louise Ciccone on a space flight could be realized in 2009," Panarin said, using most of the "Like a Virgin" singer's full name--but not all, perhaps acknowledging the objections some of his countrymen have to her onstage biblical imagery. ("The pop star calling herself Madonna is abusing the Cross," Valentin Lebedev, head of the Union of Orthodox Citizens, said during a protest in central Moscow last week.)

So maybe there will be some vogue-ing at zero gravity at a later date. (And maybe Lance Bass will be able to pony up enough cash by then.)

The first female space tourist, Iranian-American entrepreneur Anousheh Ansari, reportedly paid $20 million for the privilege to leave Earth Sept. 18. Three other individuals are said to have paid similar prices for a 10-day jaunt above-and-beyond the globe.

Madonna, who's well on her way to having the highest grossing tour ever for a female music artist, hasn't really needed to leave the planet to have out of this world success, however.

She performed in front of approximately 50,000 fans Tuesday night at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium and, despite the opposition mounting in recent weeks over the mock-crucifixion she has staged at the end of each of her performances on the Confessions tour, disruptions were at a minimum.

According to authorities, a total of 23 people--some intoxicated--were detained and only seven of them had been trying to protest the shenanigans going on inside the stadium. More than 7,000 police officers were on duty throughout the evening, including 45 dog handlers and 600 riot cops.

This was Madonna's first concert in Russia. Next it's off to Osaka and Tokyo to see what sort of religious ire the pop icon can stir up in Asia.

She may be almost 50, but Madonna has no problem baring all – when it comes to interviews, at least.

For May's U.K. issue of Elle, the still-sexy singer – whose eleventh studio album, Hard Candy, is out this month – chats candidly about her kids, her sex life and her tempestuous marriage to Guy Ritchie.

Madonna and the 39-year-old filmmaker have been dogged by rumors of marital strife, culminating last month, when the singer's rep was forced to release a statement saying, "Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie remain happily married."

In the interview, she talks frankly about the struggles they face as two strong-willed halves of a Hollywood power couple. "I had to marry a challenge because otherwise I would just get bored," she says. "Whatever else Guy is, he's never boring ... We're both there to help each other and challenge each other."

In fact, Madonna tells Elle, Ritchie inspired her new song "Miles Away," in which she laments being forced to spend so much time apart. "So many people have to deal with long-distance relationships," she says. "It's not easy. You have to work hard to make it work."

And in the bittersweet love song, "Incredible," the 49-year-old croons, "sex with you is incredible." Is that also a tribute to her husband-of-seven-years? "Absolutely," she tells the magazine. "Sex with Guy is incredible ... And surprise, surprise, it's his favorite song on the album. Actually, maybe it's not his favorite song, but it's definitely his favorite line."

Still, she seems bemused by all the media speculation surrounding the state of her union. "I'm sure people aren't that interested in my marriage," she insists. "Posh and Becks are much more interesting."

Madonna's Softer Side

The singer shows her softer side when talk turns to her children, Lourdes, 11. Rocco, 7, and soon-to-be-adopted David, 2. (According to Reuters, Madonna is expected to travel to his native Malawi April 8 to make the long-bogged-down adoption official.)

"Lourdes is the most like me," she said, adding that her eldest is now going through a "Goth phase." "Rocco is just Guy. He's very aware, very funny and doesn't let anything drop. David is this incredibly bright, smart, bundle of energy. They are all so different and completely full-on."

'I Would Never Get Fat'

As her August birthday approaches, she shows no sign of slowing down. "I'm not going to be defined by my age. Why would any woman?," she asks. "I'm not going to slow down, get off this ride, stay home and get fat. No way!" Then, making a face, she adds, "I would never get fat."

She won't talk about any surgery she may have had – "I'm not against plastic surgery, I'm just against discussing it" – but Madonna does reveal some aspects of her beauty and fitness regimes.

"If you want to know how I look like I do, it's diet and exercise and being constantly careful," she says. "I swear by oxygen facials, I'm obsessive about staying out of the sun. I don't drink much and drugs are out."

The real secret to her success, Madonna thinks, is self-discipline. "There are no tricks. Tricks don't work. Discipline does."

Madonna: Adoption Controversy 'Made Me Stronger'?

  Madonna said she found the controversy surrounding her adoption of David Banda from Malawi "painful," but added, "It made me stronger, so I guess I can't complain."

Speaking after her documentary about Malawi, I Am Because We Are, premiered at the Cannes film festival Wednesday, Madonna, 49, noted, "When a woman has a child and goes through natural childbirth she goes through birthing pain – and this was my birthing pain."

Malawi court officials said Thursday that the judge overseeing Madonna's adoption of David, 2, would make his ruling on May 28. Madonna's Malawian lawyer said that the singer and her husband, Guy Ritchie, are not required to be in court for the hearing.

"There's nothing controversial about the adoption – there's just a lot of bureaucracy," Madonna said. "This adoption was the beginning of adoption laws in Malawi. I'm the template or the role model for future adoptions. Hopefully after we get through this it will be easier for other people to adopt." She paused and smiled. "I'm happy to be the guinea pig," she said.

Now think of a tragedy where multiple thousands die
Try not to let the feelings pass you by

They call it a tsunami.........a huge tidal wave bringing destruction in its path
Many innocent people have died dealing with nature's forceful wrath
Now we must help those in need
Those who survived need money and faith not false hope and greed

So those in the entertainment field must unite for more then just one day
And lead by example by inspiring others and showing the way

As I continue this poem you may be safe at home
But think about the survivors who have no place to live
Think about their plight and continue to give
If not a helping hand… remember to say a prayer at night                        For the survivors of this tragedy who continue to fight.                                                      

We can’t just let them fade away….

 They need our help each and every day 

I'll continue this poem hoping you will see
That these people have witnessed a massive loss of humanity
It strikes at the human heart for all to feel
Yes, this tragedy was not staged, this tragedy was real

Let us take a break before we continue on
And thank God that this tsunami is gone.

There was no warning for the people in this tropical land
When the ocean rose up and delivered her blow…
There was no place for these people to go

It happened to them.....it can happen to us
We must band together in a spirit of brotherhood
-This is a must -

As the "Stars" banded together in a show of relief
I tended to believe that their aid would be brief
Instead of asking of the common man...They should band together and take a mortal stand to supply inspiration, money and time
Giving back to the people with a show of unity in kind.

There is no wall of fame between the survivors and those who give
They just want a chance to live

So lift up your multi-million dollar hearts and give to the families who lost their starts.....

The tsunami victims need to start their lives once again
The destruction will not go away overnight…
It is a horrible sight
So lift up your hearts and give what you can
I say this to the famous and also to the common man
We all need to work together to bring love and hope back to this ravished land
Isn't time we take a lasting stand?

The haves and have-nots must now work hand in hand so that God can heal the wounds…..   

Of the tsunami survivors and those who continue to mourn the loss of their children, their families and friends.                                                                                                       

We must continue to give them hope and inspiration until their suffering ends.

LIVE EARTH CONCERTS

 

Hey You...the Artists of the Earth may have gathered again around the world to sing and play...

In an effort to expose the relavence of global warming on just that ONE special day...

 But if we continue to destroy the beauty of this Earth..

Then why do those who are in the public eye loose credibility

by denying what they're worth.

Yes, you can gather together and tell the general public that our planet is in need of love and not war

But when you return to your public lives and continue to spread a lifestyle of wealth and greed.....

How are our children to believe that these concerts and causes will help them keep growing trees from a seed?...how can we solve these problems of poverty, famine and war when the artists get richer and the poorer get poor.

It seems like a hippocracy to ask the private people to help save the Earth when an "artist" becomes a "star" and endelges themselves in their own self worth. 

Why ask for money from those who are poor?....Shouldn't we really believe that these "superstars" should be checking their egos at the doors?

 With their massive amounts of money and fame...Is it any wonder that the future our Earth is no longer within our control to remain in God's domain?  

Let us give those who would help save our land....at least an opportunity to help make a stand.

For both the famous and the common PEOPLE to open their eyes and view the truth...that a climate in crisis has now been passed on to our youth.

If Live Concerts are to raise awareness and give our children hope and the ability to change what We should have  done...then maybe our "stars" should step aside and let the children on the earth gain their power from our sun...because just one Live AID concert or one Live Earth will not solve the problems nor will they yield their worth... 

If we continue to make human beings "stars" and watch as they acquire the people's money to live in luxury and forget their past.....then how will these concerts benefit the children and make their hopes and dreams last? 

 We are all human beings living on the same mother Earth and if we don't look above to find our "stars"...

Then the moon and our planet will soon become as Red as Mars.

 Global Warming is a result of how we chose to live a life of greed, luxury, and lack of respect for this beautiful blue planet that gives life to us all.....be it the large or be it in the small....be it in the poor or be it in the rich....the artist or the common man.....It is truly WE THE PEOPLE that must now ALL band together and take a daily devoted common stand....For if the "STARS" on the Earth all look above into the "STARS" in the sky...

 Then maybe just maybe in future years to come... what we will leave for our children will be a cause that we ALL will have won!

To compile the roster, Forbes said it looked at concert grosses, merchandising revenue, album sales and additional revenue garnered from secondary businesses, such as clothing or perfume lines, during a specific period of time.

Madonna 'Over the Moon' About Finalized Adoption

It's official: Madonna's dream of adopting David Banda from Malawi has come true.

The High Court in the Malawi capital Lilongwe granted the singer, 49, permanent adoption order for the 2-year-old toddler on Wednesday. In his one-hour ruling, Justice Andrew Nyirenda said he is satisfied that Madonna and her British filmmaker husband Guy Ritchie "are perfect parents" for the toddler.

"I have examined the two reports by the guardian and I am satisfied David has found a good home," he said.

Nyirenda said by his ruling, David's biological father, Yohane Banda, forfeits all rights to the toddler.

"I am glad this is over now. I am happy for David," his father said Wednesday. Banda, 33, who ekes out a living growing maize, tomato and onions, said his family will meet and plan a celebration.

Malawian lawyer Alan Chinula said that Madonna was "over the moon" when he told her about the success of her adoption Wednesday.

"She told me she was anxiously waiting for the news," he said. "She is relieved and thanks the people of Malawi for allowing them to be.......

Report: Madonna May Be Seeking Divorce Counsel

The Times of London reports Madge "is understood to be seeking legal advice" from U.K.-based celeb divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton to handle the termination of her seven-year marriage to film director Guy Ritchie. Madonna's reps have denied divorce rumors since they first surfaced several months ago, and told London's Daily Paper that the divorce talk is "completely untrue" when rumors stirred up once again earlier this month. They did not comment on the Times report. The Times estimates Madonna, 49, has assets totaling roughly $600 million. She and Ritchie, 39, have a son, 7-year-old Rocco, and Madonna has a daughter, 11-year-old Lourdes. They are also supporting a Malawian boy they plan to adopt. Shackleton, by the way, is, in divorce lawyer circles, a queen of cha-ching. Demi Moore and Rip Torn have decided to "STAR' in a new movie currently being filmed one block away from my Senior High School-INTERBORO......I hope that HAPPY TEARS is a success for Paramount and Demi and Madonna can party it up again at the VIP Oscar Bash in Hollywoodland.

Here's some fun facts about the REAL Demi Moore:

Actress`Demi Moore who planned a 'Oscar Bash" party in Hollywoodland with Madonna where only a select few of their 'Superstar" friends were invited after the Academy Awards in 2008....has begun filming a new film by Paramount in my hometown of Prospect Park,  Pennsylvania. I passed by the film crew and the house on 13th Avenue where interior scenes where being shot. I wanted to sneek in the house to welcome her to Philadelphia but I was in my black Buick Skylark singing and blasting my Madonna music. I was in the  process of returning home to my Condo in Brookhaven , Pa from the Jersey Shore while I wait for my Social Security check in the US mail for my Bi-Polar illness....a illness also affecting Britney Spears. I grew up near Prospect Park and went to highschool at Interboro which includes kids from Prospect Park. I might have even went to highschool with a family member who Paramount rented or bought the house where the interior shots are being filmed! The movie is suppose to be called "HAPPY TEARS" also "stars" Rip Torn and someone named Parker Posey.

I have been driving around in my black sedan singing tunes from the 50's 60's 70's 80's 90's and very little from the new millennium. Demi's friend Madonna was nowhere in sight but I have been singing duets with her in my "car studio". I hope to be "discovered" soon but my stars are being discovered everyday in the Universe above.

I graduated from Interboro near the filming of this "movie" in 1979 and actually lived out the Disco years there. I was born on October 2,1961 and am currently 46 going on 47.

Actress, tabloid fodder, provocative Vanity Fair cover piece: the husky-voiced brunette Demi Moore is nothing if not an unforgettable roadside attraction on the pop culture highway. Rising to prominence with a string of successful films during the '80s and early '90s, Moore became known for both her onscreen and offscreen ability to draw attention for everything from her grin-and-bare-it roles in films like Striptease to her well-publicized marriage to (and divorce from Bruce Willis.



Born Demetria Guynes in Roswell, NM, on November 11, 1962, Moore led a troubled childhood. To call it tumultuous would be something of an understatement: along with her mother, half-brother and stepfather, she moved no less than 30 times before her adolescence, thanks to her stepfather's job as a newspaper ad salesman. The problems that went along with such an itinerant lifestyle were compounded by the dysfunctional, sometimes abusive relationship between Moore's mother and stepfather. The latter committed suicide when Moore was 15, around the time that she discovered that he was not her biological father. She dropped out of school a year later and did some modeling in Europe. When she was 18, Moore married rocker Freddy Moore; the union lasted four years, during which time the actress landed her first role playing Jackie Templeton on the TV daytime drama General Hospital.



Moore made her film debut in 1981, appearing in both the coming-of-age drama Choices and the schlock-tastic Parasite. Following a bit role in 1982's Young Doctors in Love, she had her first lead role in No Small Affair (1984) as an aspiring rock singer opposite Jon Cryer. Her real breakthrough came the next year, when she starred as an unstable member of a group of college friends in St. Elmo's Fire. Apparently, her onscreen instability mirrored her offscreen condition at the time; she was reportedly fired from the film at one point and then rehired after going into drug rehab. The film was a hit, and Moore, along with such co-stars as Emilio Estevez (to whom she was engaged for three years), Rob Lowe, and Ally Sheedy, became a member of the infamous "Brat Pack."



Fortunately for Moore, she managed to avoid the straight-to-oblivion fate of other Brat Pack members, increasing her fame and resume with films like About Last Night (1986) and The Seventh Sign (1988). Her fame further increased in 1987 when she wed Bruce Willis in a Las Vegas ceremony presided over by singer Little Richard. In 1990, Moore had her biggest hit to date with Ghost, a romantic drama that cast her as the grieving girlfriend of the deceased Patrick Swayze. A huge success, Ghost secured Moore a place on the A-list, something she managed to sustain despite the subsequent twin flops of The Butcher's Wife and Mortal Thoughts, both released in 1991. That same year, Moore gained exposure of a different sort when she appeared nude and hugely pregnant on the cover of Vanity Fair; the resulting hoopla gained her more attention than either of her movies that year. She was back on the magazine's cover the following year, nude again but fetus-free and sporting a layer of artfully applied body paint. The controversy surrounding her cover-girl appearances may have helped Moore weather similar flak around her next feature, 1993's Indecent Proposal. The story of a woman (Moore) who agrees to a one-night stand with a wealthy man (Robert Redford) for one million dollars after she and her husband (Woody Harrelson) find themselves in dire financial straits, Proposal was decried by a number of feminist groups as well as various film critics and went on to be another big, if controversial, hit for Moore.



Following the commercial success of Indecent Proposal, Moore's career hit something of a downward spiral. 1994's Disclosure proved a disappointment, and the following year's Now and Then (which she also produced) staged a similarly wan performance at the box office; however, it was Moore's other film that year, a "free,"or, as some would say, staggeringly misguided, adaptation of
